What the group reads as…

In round two, voters choose which image fits a word better. These are the images the group reads most strongly as each word, after allowing for how attractive each image is overall. Four words are learned at a time; when one can be read reliably, a new word takes its place.

You've just helped images evolve

Every image you judged was made from simple rules, not by an AI trained on existing art. Your picks were real data: the images you chose are being bred into new ones, so the collection slowly takes on the taste of the people voting.

From your 15 picks, a small model has made an early read of what your choices have in common. Your type so far is

Your taste profile

It's an experiment in the spirit of the Bauhaus: can a visual language grow from first principles and human judgement, instead of copying artists?

Next is round two. You'll get four words, like calm or tension, and choose which image fits each word better. After those 15, your full profile shows how your taste relates to how people read each word.

About Vorkurs

Vorkurs is an independent experiment in growing a visual language from rules and human taste alone, named after the Bauhaus foundation course. No image-generating AI and no existing artwork are involved.

How it works

  1. Each image is a genome: shapes and lines on a ground, a colour scheme, and switches for relationships such as alignment, echo and overlap.
  2. You pick the one you prefer. Each pick is one comparison.
  3. Strong images are bred with one or two small edits, with fresh random images mixed in for novelty.
  4. Simple models rank the images and find which qualities predict a win, for the group and for you.
  5. Occasionally the two images differ in one respect only. These test claims from Bauhaus teaching that were written down in advance; they never steer how images are made.
